HELPING US

Volunteers are an essential part of the services we can offer. We have already received very positive feedback from those we support, telling us that they particularly value volunteer support. Volunteering can make a huge difference, and the fact that you give your free time freely is even more appreciated. All volunteers are provided with full training to ensure you have the information and support they need to be a successful volunteer. There are four main areas in which you could volunteer:

Tutoring

Could you work with an individual or small group to support their understanding/skills in either Literacy or Numeracy? To undertake this volunteer role you will need to hold a relevant teaching qualification.

Coaching

This involves supporting an individual or small group to develop confidence/ability in performing tasks. It typically requires you to give constructive feedback and encourage effort to achieve. You will need to be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the subject area and effective communication skills.

Fundraising

Words and Numbers Matter are constantly looking for ways to raise funds to support the work we do. Volunteers can help in many ways, either helping us to organise big events with a team of people or coming up with ingenious ideas that can help us capture the imagination and funds of others!
